Revep은 독일의 전자음악가 Alva Noto와의 협업 음반 Vrioon, Insen의 연장선상에 있는 작품으로, Alva Noto와 진행한 Virus 시리즈 중 하나. 2006년 5월 23일에 Raster-Noton 레이블을 통해 CD EP, 12" Vinyl로 발매됨.

마지막 곡 Ax Mr. L.은 Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence(전장의 메리크리스마스)를 새롭게 해석한 곡.

Insen의 성공 이후에도 이 협업 프로젝트는 결론에 이르지 않았다. 2006년 카스텐 니콜라이(알바 노토)와 류이치 사카모토의 두 번째 대규모 Insen 투어에 맞춰, Raster-Noton은 싱글 CD 'Revep'을 발매했다. 이 CD-EP에는 Vrioon에서 시작되어 Insen을 통해 새로운 차원으로 발전한 세션과 음악적 교류에서 탄생한 미발표 곡들이 수록되어 있다.

Revep은 신비로운 분위기 속에서 전통적인 음향의 규칙, 즉 소리와 노이즈의 분리를 허무는 작품이다. "이보다 더 멀리, 깊이 소리의 구조 속으로 들어갈 수 없습니다. 이전에는 들어본 적 없는 아름다움을 발견하기 위해서 말이죠." – 팀 로렌츠, Groove.

Revep에는 Ax Mr.L.이라는 곡이 포함되어 있으며, 이 곡에서 두 아티스트는 사카모토의 유명한 작곡을 재해석했다. 이 곡은 1983년작 영화 Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (데이비드 보위, 기타노 다케시 주연)의 테마 음악으로도 잘 알려져 있다.

after the success of "insen" this collaborative project has not reached its conclusion. to co-inside with the second major insen tour by carsten nicolai aka alva noto + ryuichi sakamoto in 2006, raster-noton releases the revep cd single. this cd-ep offers unreleased pieces from the sessions and musical exchanges that began with "vrioon" and found its next level with "insen".
